Location: Private Yoga Studio in St. Albert
Times: Fridays: 5:30 – 9:30 pm

The experience of grief can be incredibly painful, isolating, and lonely. Following a loss, some common responses include a massive loss of energy, a roller-coaster of conflicting emotions, difficulty concentrating, changes in eating and sleeping, and physical exhaustion.
The practice of yoga as a whole is becoming notiably one of the most tranformational guides to help people deal with loss, trauma and grief. Yoga for Grief classes help students recognize the many shades of grief, acceptance and how to move beyong the loss.
Yoga for Grief combines yoga postures, meditation as well as pranayama to help those that have experience loss to begin the journey of healing and recovery.
Yoga teachers are knowledgable in the art of moving and migrating students through a yoga practice, but our scope of practice doesn’t allow for us to help suppport students who are grieving and the knowledge and science behind grief.
Join Clare Newman and Ashley Mielke for this 25 hr Yoga for Grief Teacher Training to help faciliate your own personal path with grief or to support with confidence and knowledge those that are reeling with loss.

Meet the Instructors:
Ashley Mielke is a Registered Psychologist and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist® in Edmonton. She is the owner of Lasting Solutions Psychological and Grief Recovery Center and is Canada’s Grief Recovery Method® Certification Trainer for The Grief Recovery Institute. In addition to running her private practice and facilitating professional trainings, she teaches undergraduate psychology at Concordia University of Edmonton.
Ashley’s educational background includes a Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University, California and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Concordia University of Edmonton.
Having experienced painful and life-altering losses in her life, including the death of her father and divorce, Ashley has a deep compassion and empathy for the mass of emotion that grievers often experience following a loss.
Ashley did not pursue a specialization in Grief Recovery® as a result of her academic or clinical training; it was because she was broken-hearted, and like a majority of others, was ill-equipped to deal with it. By courageously taking the actions of The Grief Recovery Method®, Ashley learned how to complete relationships in her life that ended or changed. Through her own healing, she developed an overwhelming desire to help others move beyond the pain, isolation, and loneliness caused by loss.

Clare Newman is a E-RYT 500 hr Yoga Teacher and has been facilitating yoga teacher trainings since 2007. She is the Program Director at both Mamata Yoga (www.mamatayoga.com) and Vikara Yoga Academy, where she facilitates trainings all over Canada.
Clare knows the path of grief all too well after the sudden loss of her mother in 2012. Still reeling from the loss and void, Clare believes strongly in the education and science behind grief combined with the emotional and spirtual practice of yoga, both which have profoudly shifted her own grief recovery.
This trainings was inspired by both Ashley and Clare who noticed a void in helping others deal with grief from a deeper perspective. Coming out of the shadows to share experiences and education to provide support to anyone who has dealt with a loss.
25hrs can be used towards Yoga Alliance CEU’s (Continuing Education Units).
This training is open to anyone interested in sharing the knowledge or using it for their own personal recovery. Space is limited!
